Diamond Shape Guide
Shape refers to the outline of a diamond when viewed from above. Each shape has its own optical character, visual personality, and ideal use cases. CRTD Diamonds offers over 20 distinct shapes.
Brilliant Cuts
Brilliant-cut diamonds feature triangular and kite-shaped facets arranged to maximise light return. They produce the most sparkle.
- Round Brilliant: The most popular shape. 57 facets engineered for maximum brilliance. The benchmark against which all other shapes are compared
- Oval: An elongated brilliant that appears larger than a round of equal weight. Flattering on the finger
- Pear: A teardrop combining round and marquise elements. Creates visual movement and works beautifully as a pendant
- Marquise: A pointed, elongated shape with the largest face-up appearance per carat of any shape
- Heart: The ultimate romantic shape. Requires excellent symmetry and skilled cutting
- Cushion: A square or rectangle with rounded corners. Produces broad, romantic flashes of light
- Cushion Brilliant: Enhanced cushion with additional brilliant facets for more scintillation
Step Cuts
Step-cut diamonds feature long, parallel facets that produce a hall-of-mirrors effect. They favour clarity and geometric beauty over raw sparkle.
- Emerald: A rectangular step cut with trimmed corners. Sophisticated, understated shimmer
- Asscher: A square step cut with deeply trimmed corners. Art Deco heritage with a hypnotic windmill pattern
- Baguette: A narrow rectangular step cut. The classic accent stone
- Tapered Baguette: A baguette that narrows at one end. Designed to flow alongside curved centres
